Understanding Your Audience - CoverGirl  Makeup has historically been a women’s art. For centuries, women have dominated the market of cosmetics and most, if not all, makeup brands tailor their products and ad campaigns to women. However, this has all seemed to change recently. The Los Angeles Times released an article about two years ago articulating how the taboos that have underlined societies for decades are fluctuating rapidly. The article sites that “56 percent of Generation Z knows someone who goes by the gender-neutral pronouns of "they," "them," or "ze." They are also rejecting the gender binary while shopping for clothes — 44 percent said they only bought clothes restricted for their own gender, and 70 percent support a move toward gender-neutral bathrooms.” From a young age, girls are taught that it is custom for them to wear make-up.
